The Business Matchmaking team has developed a list of key resources that will provide essential information, support and direction as you are expanding your business. This section will continue to be updated with new resources available freely to small businesses that we think benefit your growth and expansion.
SCORE - As a partner in the Business Matchmaking program, SCORE provides small businesses with essential guidance, strategic direction and insights from its more than 16,000 counselor corps of retired and in some cases, still actively employed volunteers. SCORE's free online counseling module is one of the best combinations we've seen of know how with technology so ask a SCORE counselor your business question...it's free!
SBA - The U.S. Small Business Administration's web site, www.sba.gov, is in invaluable resource to gain information on procurement, financing and certifying your business. But did you know that the SBA offers an extensive library of online training courses across 16 categories that you can view to get a better handle on budgeting, taxes, marketing and other small business tactics. The information is free and accessible 24/7.
The training site offers 59 different online courses including Marketing & Advertising, Risk Management and E-Commerce. Some of the courses are offered directly on the SBA site; others come through third-party training sources or other government agencies. PTACs - The Defense Logistics Agency, on behalf of the Secretary of Defense, administers the DoD Procurement Technical Assistance Program (PTAP). PTACs are a local resource available at no or nominal cost that can provide assistance to business firms in marketing products and services to the Federal, state and local governments. Women's Business Centers - The Office of Women's Business Ownership and the Online Women's Business Center are integral components of Entrepreneurial Development's network of training and counseling services. It oversees a network of Women's Business Centers. The centers are designed to assist women achieve their dreams and improve their communities by helping them start and run successful businesses, regardless of social or financial disadvantage, race, ethnicity or business background. Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) - SBDCs provide management assistance to current and prospective small business owners. SBDCs offer one-stop assistance to individuals and small businesses by providing a wide variety of information and guidance in central and easily accessible branch locations. The program is a cooperative effort of the private sector, the educational community and federal, state and local governments and is an integral component of Entrepreneurial Development's network of training and counseling services.
